Colleen Masse

Colleen Masse is an RRCA Certified Running Coach who discovered her strongest and happiest years in running after turning 50.

A former high school and collegiate runner, Colleen returned to the sport during a major life transition as her two sons headed to college. What began as a goal to run a destination half marathon at 50 quickly evolved into something much bigger. Since then, she has completed 22 marathons, including six World Marathon Majors — Berlin, London, Tokyo, Chicago, New York, and Boston.

Colleen knows firsthand that running does not have to end when life gets busy. As a full time attorney, board member of the Hartford Track Club, and mother of two adult sons, she understands the realities of balancing career, family, and training.

She became a coach to prove that normal, hardworking adults can make running a meaningful and joyful part of their lives. You do not need perfect circumstances to chase big goals. With structure, community, and belief, your strongest chapter may still be ahead of you.

I have used numerous training programs in the past. Some of them were very generic while others were much more individualized. While they all worked to some degree, none came close to the training and guidance I got from the coaches at Spark Healthy Runner.

The training prepared me for the marathon I was aiming for and I got to the start line well-trained and injury free! The monthly coaching calls allowed me to discuss any issues or concerns I had with my coach and we made the necessary adjustments. That doesn't happen with a basic online training program.

My experience with Spark Healthy Running was great! Through individual coaching, the coaching team really helped provide structure to my half marathon training plan, and helped to provide encouragement and support, particularly when I experienced a few setbacks and minor injuries during my training.

The accountability that the coaching provided also assisted me throughout and kept me on track with my racing goals. The strength training supplemented my running by enabling me to gain and maintain both upper and lower body strength and agility, which I noticed made a significant impact with my running endurance later on in the racing cycle.

I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to improve their running regimen and incorporate a good balance of runner-centric strength training along the way!

"Cannot recommend this program enough! I have been running for about eight years but have always been self taught. In the past two years I went through a nasty battle with plantar and some knee pain that sidelined me from running. Working one on one with Spark Healthy Runner changed the game for me! My coach really pushed me in my running and taught me how to build a solid running base and incorporate strength training sessions and my much loved yoga classes. Because of the help from Coach Duane and the team, I was able to run my first half marathon since 2017 and complete the entire thing pain free. Definitely recommend trying the program!!

I decided to join the Healthy Runner Coaching Program because I needed structure in my runs, strength workouts, motivation to help me reach my ultimate goal of running without pain, and ultimate race time goals that I have been stuck on trying to make progress.

My experience in the program has been amazing. Being able to message either one of my coaches with any concerns is very convenient. I do not believe I would have been able to get stronger on my own without their input on what I should do to become a stronger and faster runner. My coaches have been amazing with coming up with different workouts to do. I could not become a stronger runner without them. I was able to increase my speed, my muscle endurance and my weekly mileage because they were able to push me to my goals.
